The coaches and co-founders

The Jim team consists of people with backgrounds in physical education, dance, athletics, sports, art, storytelling and technology. Our classes are a combination of dance, sports, music and play and focus on creative development. We share a love of moving, and a drive to help children discover the value and pleasure that physical activity can bring them. Now, and throughout their lives.

Lauri | Head Coach

As head coach since the day we started, Lauri is the brains behind our program development. A former professional ballet dancer, she studied ballet at the National Dutch Ballet Academy before organising dance programs for impoverished kids in Southeast Asia through her own foundation: Chance to Dance

“As program developer I’m continuously working to get kids enthusiastic about sports. It’s fascinating to see how they gather information and express themselves through movement. They’re honest, curious and inquisitive – which makes every day inspiring. Our day is a succes if they leave full of new ideas!”

Sophie | Coach

Sophie graduated from the Academy for Physical Education in Amsterdam in 2015, where she learned everything about anatomy, physiology and helping adults and kids improve their physical development. At Friends call me Jim she not only coaches kids, but also designs storylines and movements that will teach them new motor skills.

“I love Friends call me Jim’s completely new approach to getting kids moving and away from their screens. Being able to motivate them to try something new and see them gain the confidence to use their new skills outside is an added bonus!”

Soeanne | Coach

Soeanne is truly passionate about sports. After years studying Sports Management and physiotherapy, teaching hockey and skiing, and working at the after school program Woest Zuid, she’s brought her ceaseless enthusiasm to Friends call me Jim.

“I think it’s important that kids love to move and play sports. I’m convinced that if they learn this at a young age, they’ll stay fit and active their whole lives. During every story kids are introduced to a wide variety of new movements. I love seeing them get lost in the story and unconsciously try new, exciting movements.”
